This past weekend was a great one for active Petalumans!  On Friday night at the Petaluma Golf and Country Club, Next Gen, which benefits the Petaluma Valley Hospital, along with community support from local businesses, hosted a 5 km Run/Walk.  The event sold out with 250 local folks pushing up the hills! It was awesome! Even the Coast Guard came out to help with the event.

Also, on Saturday, hundreds of Petalumans participated in the Relay a 199 mile run from Calistoga to Santa Cruz.  This event raises money for “Organs ‘R’ Us”.  Twelve runners transfer a baton, which has come to symbolize the transfer of an organ from a donor to a recipient.  Here is a great photo of one of the local teams with Ultra Marathon Man (and People’s Magazine Sexist Man) Dean Karnazes.  He has done this relay without a team.  He just ran the whole 199 miles himself.  Thanks you all for participating in the event, raising money and awareness!

Not to be out done by the runners. Many Petaluman Triathletes participated in the 30th Annual Escape from Alcatraz . Yeah, I was one of those crazy folks (1,800 in all) who escaped on Sunday.  What a great event – I’ll be planning another escape next year.  A little further from home in Monterey County still more Petaluma participated in the Wildflower Triathlon in Monterey County.  I am no stranger to this event and let me tell you it is a HARD course.

Congratulations Petaluma we are out and about! Let me know what you are doing!

Keep up the Pace.
