On Sunday, June 6th was the 23rd Annual Hit the Road Jack 10K/2.2 Mile run. It started in the downtown square in beautiful Sonoma with just over 1400 runners and walkers.

More Petaluma Women showed up on race morning than Petaluma men.  Hopefully, some of the guys were at home taking care of the kids or doing the housework.  Of the 490 women runners from all over Northern California 57 were from P-town.  The top female finisher from Petaluma was 39 year old Eileen Hosbein who ran a 45:38, followed by Holly Wick , 52 46:15   & Molly Biss 25, 48:37.  The top finisher in the woman’s race was Ashlee Drady, 24 from Santa Rosa, in a time of 41:01.  Both Eileen and Holly finished in the top 10 overall for women. Eileen came 3rd in her age group, Holly 1st and Emily Conroy age 15 came 2nd in her age group.  Way to go ladies!  Also, a shout out to first timer at the 10K distance and new to running Linda Osburn Welsh who ran a 1:01:33.  Next time she is out to break the hour marker!

In the men’s division youth was the key! A 15 year old runner, Tim Gruber, won overall in a time of 34:19! Petaluma’s own 15 year old runner, Alexi Taylor, was the first in from Petaluma and 15th overall in a time of 40:16 to capture 2nd place in his division. Chris Webb, 42, 43:23 and Ron Svinth 50, 44:02 had the 2nd and 3rd fastest times for Petaluma Men. My very own husband, JT Wick, was 6th in from Petaluma in a time of 46:11 – yeah I he passed in the last 2 seconds!  A total of 20 guys from Petaluma participated in the field of 306 runners.

In the 2.2 Mile event Nicole Lane, 15 years old, from Santa Roasa won the women’s in 13:16. The top Petaluma Women were Grace Hosbein, 9 years in 19:01 (must get her speed from Mom), Wendi Arendell, 44, 19:09, and Kristen Decker 47, 10:29.  Twenty-eight Petaluma women were in this field of 378 participants.
