I have been been an athlete for most of my 52 years. In the past 10 years I have been very active in triathlons.
I did my first Ironman here in Sonoma County – The Vineman and finished 1st. I was hooked! Since then I did 5 more Ironmans and finished 2nd in Ironman France and 3rd at Ironman Canada. In the past two years I have focused on the Half Ironman distances and qualified twice for the World Championships in Florida.
When I moved to Petaluma from Vancouver, British Columbia, 12 years ago there was no running specialty store in Petaluma. So three years ago I quit my teaching job and opened Athletic Soles in downtown Petaluma. We offer free running groups, special events and great advice and products. I want to bring back the Petaluma Marathon, which was the first marathon west of the Mississippi, which ran from 1935 -1952. Hopefully, we can make this happen!
Living in Sonoma County is ideal for athletes. The rolling hill and beautiful country side make training a pleasure. I hope that this blog encourages people to get out and enjoy an active life.
